Rajinikanth's "Lal Salaam" Struggles at Box Office, Earns Little Over ₹1 Crore on Day 5

Despite featuring superstar Rajinikanth in an extended cameo, Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s directorial venture “Lal Salaam” is facing challenges at the domestic box office. The sports drama, which opened in theaters on February 9, has witnessed a modest performance, earning approximately ₹1.16 crore nett on its fifth day of release.

According to a report by Sacnilk.com, “Lal Salaam” has garnered a total of ₹12.3 crore in India so far. The film experienced a lackluster performance on its first Monday, earning roughly ₹1.24 crore, indicating a struggle to maintain momentum after its opening weekend.

“Lal Salaam” opened to mixed reviews, with audiences expressing disappointment over its box office performance despite Rajinikanth’s presence. The film, featuring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles, revolves around the rivalry between the two characters since childhood, with Rajinikanth essaying the role of Moideen Bhai, a Muslim leader.

The movie’s journey to the big screen faced delays, with its initial release date scheduled during the Pongal festival in January. Presented by Lyca Productions and boasting music by AR Rahman, “Lal Salaam” marks Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s directorial comeback after an eight-year hiatus.

Critics have noted Rajinikanth’s impactful portrayal of Moideen Bhai, with some dialogues resonating deeply with audiences. An excerpt from a review by Hindustan Times highlights Rajinikanth’s portrayal of the character’s beliefs, emphasizing the importance of humanity over caste and religion, a sentiment echoed by the actor both on-screen and in real life.

Despite the film’s commendable thematic elements and Rajinikanth’s charismatic presence, “Lal Salaam” continues to grapple with sluggish box office figures. As the film navigates its theatrical run, audiences remain curious about its reception and its ability to draw crowds in the coming days.

With the box office performance of “Lal Salaam” under scrutiny, industry observers await further developments to gauge its impact on the overall success of the film and its reception among audiences nationwide.
