Tamil cinema icon Rajinikanth’s latest film “Jailer” is on the brink of crossing the ₹150 crore milestone in India as it continues to make waves at the box office. Released on August 10, the action-packed film has been earning significant figures since its debut. According to reports, “Jailer” raked in around ₹38 crore on a single Sunday, propelling its total Indian earnings to approximately ₹146.4 crore. Additionally, the film’s global success has taken it beyond the ₹300 crore mark worldwide in just four days, a feat acknowledged by trade analyst Ramesh Bala.

“Jailer” has cemented its place among Rajinikanth’s other blockbuster films that have joined the ₹300 crore club, namely “Enthiran” (2010), “Kabali” (2016), and “2.0” (2018). The movie features Rajinikanth in the role of a retired police officer, marking his comeback after a two-year hiatus. The star-studded cast also includes Jackie Shroff, Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, and others, with an extended cameo by veteran actor Mohanlal.

The film’s colossal success is reflected not only in its impressive earnings but also in its record-breaking opening. “Jailer” has achieved the biggest opening of 2023 in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, along with the highest opening for any Tamil film in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Its opening day gross collection in India this year has set a new benchmark for Tamil cinema.

As “Jailer” continues to captivate audiences worldwide, Rajinikanth’s return to the big screen has been met with excitement, affirming his position as one of India’s most iconic actors. With its remarkable box office performance, “Jailer” reinforces the enduring allure of Rajinikanth and his ability to enthrall audiences both in India and across the globe.
