The trailer for the upcoming film ‘UT69,’ featuring entrepreneur Raj Kundra, dropped on Wednesday, offering a sneak peek into his life during a tumultuous period. ‘UT69’ is set to be released on November 3, with Raj Kundra in the lead role, and it provides a dramatic portrayal of his time at Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail.
The film delves into Raj Kundra’s life during his more than two-month stint at the Arthur Road Jail as he faced an under-trial period, prompted by his alleged involvement in a case related to pornographic content. The trailer opens with ‘breaking news’ about Raj’s arrest in 2021, setting the tone for a gripping narrative.
Raj Kundra, well-known as Shilpa Shetty’s husband and a former ‘Bigg Boss’ contestant, grapples with the challenges of adjusting to life behind bars and the constant mockery from other inmates and police personnel. The trailer also captures a stampede-like situation and the unexpected friendships that Raj forms inside the jail.
Raj Kundra’s arrest in July 2021, linked to the alleged production of pornographic videos, garnered significant media attention. He was granted bail in September of the same year and faced legal charges under sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act, and the Information Technology Act.
The film ‘UT69’ takes a satirical look at the real-life incidents from Raj Kundra’s time at Arthur Road jail, a period he describes as his most challenging. The movie, based on true events, provides a window into this chapter of his life.
During the trailer launch event in Mumbai, it was revealed that ad film director Shahnawaz Ali directed the project. ‘UT69’ is backed by AA Films, produced by SVS Studios, and co-produced by THE BIGGER PICTURE FILMS.
Raj Kundra expressed his sentiments about his debut film, saying, “This is more than just a movie for me! While it’s a closure of sorts, you will see through my eyes a story about survival, friendships, and relationships inside India’s most notoriously crowded infamous detention centre, also known as Arthur Road Jail.” ‘UT69’ promises to offer an intimate and gripping perspective on a challenging phase of Raj Kundra’s life.
