‘Raid 2’ Box Office Day 3: Ajay Devgn-Starrer Sees Strong Growth, Crosses ₹47 Crore in India

Ajay Devgn’s latest thriller, Raid 2, continues its strong run at the box office, crossing the ₹45 crore mark within its first three days of release. The film, which hit theatres nationwide on May 1, is a sequel to the 2018 hit Raid and stars Ajay Devgn alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor.

Day 3 Collections Show Upward Momentum

According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, Raid 2 earned ₹16.05 crore on Saturday (Day 3), marking a clear upward trend in collections after a minor dip on Friday. The film had opened with an impressive ₹19.25 crore on Thursday, followed by ₹12 crore on its second day. With the Day 3 earnings included, the total domestic box office collection now stands at approximately ₹47.3 crore.

The film’s Hindi occupancy on Saturday averaged 23.94%, with evening shows performing particularly well at 33.15%. Morning shows recorded an occupancy of 12.04%, while afternoon shows saw a jump to 26.64%.

Stronger Opening Than Drishyam 2

Raid 2 surpassed the opening of Devgn’s 2022 hit Drishyam 2, which had collected ₹15.38 crore on Day 1. This suggests that Devgn continues to draw strong audiences for his investigative thrillers, especially when paired with compelling co-stars and fast-paced narratives.

About the Film

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, known for his gripping storytelling in films like No One Killed Jessica, Raid 2 picks up where the original left off. Ajay Devgn returns as the incorruptible IRS officer Amey Patnaik, this time pitted against Riteish Deshmukh’s character, a corrupt politician known as Dada Bhai. Vaani Kapoor joins the cast, and Saurabh Shukla also reprises his role from the first installment.

Set in the 1990s, Raid 2 has been described as a political thriller with high-stakes drama and courtroom-like confrontations. While the film has earned praise for its twists and fast pace, some critics noted that certain plot developments relied heavily on convenience, which somewhat dulled the antagonist’s arc.

Audience Response & Outlook

Despite some critical reservations, audience turnout has been robust, and the box office numbers reflect solid word-of-mouth. The action-packed narrative, supported by Ajay Devgn’s strong screen presence and Riteish Deshmukh’s antagonist role, appears to be resonating with viewers.

With Sunday collections yet to be tallied and a relatively open run ahead, Raid 2 is well-positioned to continue its box office climb and potentially enter the ₹100 crore club in the coming week.
