R Balki Directs Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in Reunion Commercial: "They Were Like Two Buddies"

Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan recently reunited on screen after a hiatus of 17 years, sharing the spotlight in a quirky advertisement for Everest, the renowned spice brand. The special moment was captured through the lens of acclaimed director R Balki, who couldn’t contain his excitement about this unique collaboration.

In a statement, R Balki shared his insights into working with two stalwarts of the Indian film industry, saying, “I think it’s the first time ever that Amitji and SRK are featuring in a commercial together. It was an iconic shoot. They were like two buddies who were meeting on set after years…we were all, of course, excited, but they were even more…it was like shooting with two legendary kids. I have never been this ecstatic shooting. I have never been sadder that it ended. They are just too cool and special together, and I thank Everest from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with this once-in-a-lifetime ad.”

Amitabh Bachchan also expressed his delight at reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan, stating, “I’ve always believed in the power of simplicity, and this campaign encapsulates that essence perfectly. It was an enriching experience to work alongside Shahrukh Khan, and together, we’ve celebrated the joy of home-cooked meals.”

The dynamic duo, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, have previously graced the silver screen together in iconic films such as “Mohabbatein,” “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham,” and “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna,” making their on-screen reunion a nostalgic treat for fans.

While Shah Rukh Khan is currently enjoying the success of Atlee’s action thriller “Jawan,” co-starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Sanya Malhotra, he has an exciting project lined up. In the coming months, audiences can look forward to seeing him in director Rajkumar Hirani’s next film “Dunki,” opposite Taapsee Pannu.

On the other hand, Amitabh Bachchan is gearing up for the release of the Pan-India film “Kalki 2898 AD,” alongside Deepika Padukone and Prabhas, set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024. Additionally, he is set to star in director Ribhu Dasgupta’s courtroom drama film “Section 84,” adding more anticipation to his upcoming projects.
