Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran recently had a special moment with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who was the first person to watch the trailer of his highly anticipated film L2: Empuraan. The Malayalam actor took to social media to express his excitement and gratitude, calling it a moment he would “cherish forever.”
Prithviraj’s ‘Fanboy’ Moment with Rajinikanth
Prithviraj shared a picture on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), where he can be seen beaming as he posed alongside Rajinikanth. In his post, he revealed how much the meeting meant to him, especially after Rajinikanth watched the L2: Empuraan trailer and shared his reaction.
He wrote, “The very first person to watch the trailer of #L2E #EMPURAAN. I will forever cherish what you said after watching it Sir! This meant the world to me! Fanboy forever! @rajinikanth #OGSuperstar.”
The post left fans eager to know what Rajinikanth’s reaction was to the Lucifer sequel.
About L2: Empuraan
L2: Empuraan is the sequel to Prithviraj’s 2019 Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, which starred Mohanlal as Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi-Ab’raam. The sequel continues the story, exploring the power struggles that emerge after the events of the first film.
The script is written by Murali Gopy, and the film is jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions. Alongside Mohanlal and Prithviraj, the film also stars Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
The film is slated for release on March 27, 2025.
Prithviraj’s Upcoming Projects
Besides L2: Empuraan, Prithviraj has a packed lineup of films. He is part of SS Rajamouli’s Telugu film SSMB 29, where he shares screen space with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. A leaked video from the set recently surfaced online, showing him shooting in Odisha.
In Malayalam cinema, Prithviraj is working on Vilayath Buddha, Nobody, and Santhosh Trophy, while his Hindi film Sarzameen is also in the pipeline.
Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Films
Rajinikanth has wrapped up shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, a star-studded film featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, and Monisha Blessy. Reports suggest that Aamir Khan might have a cameo, while Pooja Hegde has been confirmed for a special dance number.
Additionally, Rajinikanth is set to begin work on Jailer 2 with Nelson Dilipkumar.
