The anticipation for the release of two major films, ‘Dunki’ and ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire,’ has gripped fans as advance bookings offer a glimpse into the box office battleground. According to Sacnilk.com, the advance bookings for Prabhas-starrer ‘Salaar’ have surged past ₹18 crore, overshadowing Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki,’ which stands close with an advance booking of approximately ₹12 crore.
Scheduled for theatrical release on consecutive days, ‘Dunki,’ directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal, is set to hit screens on December 21. Meanwhile, ‘Salaar,’ helmed by Prashanth Neel and featuring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Tinnu Anand, and Jagapathi Babu, is slated for release on December 22.
Breaking down the advance bookings, ‘Salaar’ has garnered impressive numbers across various languages and formats. In Telugu (2D), it grossed over ₹14.07 crore from 632,687 tickets sold in 2,537 shows, and in Malayalam (2D), it amassed ₹1.37 crore from 92,338 tickets across 992 shows. The film also secured earnings in Tamil (2D) and Kannada (2D). Additionally, it garnered ₹2.04 crore in Hindi (2D) and earned figures from IMAX 2D screenings.
Comparatively, ‘Dunki’ amassed ₹11.46 crore in Hindi (2D) from 405,373 tickets sold in 13,286 shows, setting the stage for a substantial clash at the box office.
