Prabhas' "Salaar" Inches Closer to ₹400 Crore Milestone at Box Office on Day 16

Amidst fervent anticipation and widespread praise, Prashanth Neel’s directorial venture “Salaar,” featuring Prabhas in the lead, continues to make waves at the box office, nearing the ₹400 crore mark on its 16th day since release.

According to reports from Sacnilk, “Salaar” amassed ₹5.25 crore on its 16th day across multiple languages, contributing to an impressive total collection of ₹387 crore. Released on December 22 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, the film delves into the narrative of friends turned adversaries within the backdrop of the fictitious city-state Khansaar. Audiences have lauded Prabhas as Deva, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Vardharaja Mannaar (Vardha) and Shruti Haasan’s Aadhya.

Ahead of the movie’s premiere, Prashanth Neel revealed an intriguing detail, stating that the script for “Salaar” was conceived even before his work commenced on the acclaimed “KGF.” In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Neel shared insights, emphasizing the expansive narrative of “Salaar,” hinting at its potential to span across two parts, expressing confidence in the audience’s reception of the first installment.

Critically, Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV awarded “Salaar: Part 1” 2.5 stars, noting its elaborate setup of characters and the unfolding conflict in the city of Khansaar. The review highlighted Prabhas’ portrayal of Devaratha, his bond with Vardharaja Mannaar, and the power struggle within the Mannar tribe, setting the stage for a gripping saga.

“Salaar” faced off against Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” at the box office, with the former dominating the earnings, inching closer to the ₹400 crore milestone. Notably, “Dunki” accrued ₹208.67 crore within the same 16-day timeframe.

The resounding success of “Salaar” not only signifies its box office prowess but also underscores the audience’s profound engagement with its narrative depth and stellar performances, positioning it as a noteworthy addition to Prabhas’ cinematic repertoire.
