The Mumbai crime branch has launched a search operation in the Tapi River near Surat to recover two pistols reportedly used by shooters involved in the recent firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra.

The crime branch has enlisted the support of professional marine expert firms to aid in locating the firearms discarded by the perpetrators. According to police reports, two shooters, identified as Sagar Pal, 24, and Vicky Gupta, 25, both from Champaran, Bihar, were apprehended in connection with the incident.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Sagar Pal discharged five rounds outside Salman Khan’s residence in the early hours of April 14. The investigation further uncovered that the accused possessed two 7.62 mm pistols, one of which was used during the shooting.

Following their escape from the city, the accused allegedly disposed of the pistols in the Tapi River. Subsequently, the police initiated a search operation in collaboration with professional water survey firms, local fishermen, and offshore drilling service provider Aban Offshore.

Inspector Daya Nayak is leading the search team comprising around 10 police officials, divers, and support staff. The operation utilizes high-tech equipment to detect metallic objects underwater, with a focus on the areas identified by Vicky Gupta as potential disposal sites.

Law enforcement authorities have also identified Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster currently incarcerated, and his brother Anmol as wanted suspects in the case. Anmol, believed to have fled the country, allegedly communicated with the arrested shooters, encouraging their criminal activities.

“Our efforts are directed towards recovering the weapons, which are crucial evidence in this case,” stated a senior police officer involved in the investigation. The police remain committed to pursuing all leads and ensuring accountability in the Salman Khan residence firing incident.
