In a gripping new trailer for the upcoming film “Main Atal Hoon,” versatile actor Pankaj Tripathi takes audiences on a journey through the tumultuous life of India’s late former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The movie, set to release in theaters on January 19, promises to delve into pivotal moments from Vajpayee’s life, including his resilience during the Emergency, stand against the Babri Masjid demolition, and key roles in the Pokhran nuclear test and the Kargil War.
Directed by Ravi Jadhav and written by Rishi Virmani and Ravi Jadhav, “Main Atal Hoon” captures the essence of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s life, portraying more than just his political journey. The newly released trailer showcases Pankaj Tripathi’s portrayal of Vajpayee’s unique speech-delivering style and determination.
The trailer unfolds with Vajpayee, played by Tripathi, expressing the public’s belief in what is shown to them through media. The narrative then transitions to moments of criticism and violence, highlighting the controversial association of Mahatma Gandhi’s killer, Nathuram Godse, with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), of which Vajpayee was also a part. The film explores the challenges faced by Vajpayee as the RSS is labeled communal, fueling concerns about the potential danger posed by a Hindu party to the nation.
As the trailer progresses, it depicts Vajpayee’s steadfast stance against Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi during the Emergency. It further touches upon his significant role in the successful Pokhran nuclear test, with a congratulatory scene featuring the late President Abdul Kalam. The narrative also recalls Vajpayee’s bold move of initiating a bus service between India and Pakistan and volunteering to visit Ayodhya after the Babri Masjid demolition. “Main Atal Hoon” is produced by Bhanushali Studios Limited and Legend Studios and features an ensemble cast including Piyush Mishra, Raja Rameshkumar Sevak, Daya Shankar Pandey, Pramod Pathak, Paayal Kapoor Nair, Harshad Kumar, Prasanna Ketkar, Haresh Khatri, Paula McGlynn, and Gauri Sukhtankar.
In anticipation of the film’s release, Pankaj Tripathi shared a video where he embarked on a symbolic bus ride on the recently inaugurated Atal Setu in Maharashtra, accompanied by students from the DAV School where Atal Bihari Vajpayee received his education.
