A viral video of children dancing to Tamannaah Bhatia’s popular song “Aaj Ki Raat” from the film Stree 2 during a Teachers’ Day celebration has sparked outrage on social media. The video, which shows a group of kids performing a choreographed routine at a school event, has drawn criticism for being inappropriate for the occasion and for young children.

The Video in Question

The video begins with a group of children performing on stage, with a banner in the background indicating the event was organized to celebrate Teachers’ Day, which is observed annually on September 5 in India. The banner features an image of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India, whose birthday is commemorated on this day in honor of his contributions as a teacher.

As the video progresses, the children recreate dance steps from the original item number, with one child dressed in an outfit similar to the one worn by Tamannaah Bhatia in Stree 2. According to reports, the event took place at a school in Assam.

Social Media Outrage

Since the video resurfaced online, it has drawn sharp criticism from users on X (formerly Twitter) and other platforms. Many questioned why children were allowed to perform a dance number that some deemed inappropriate for a school event, especially one celebrating teachers.

One user commented, “This dance would not have happened without personal training by one of the teachers. All such dance and song programs by small kids are taught and choreographed by teachers of the school. I think that is the case here too.” Another added, “This is such a shameful act from the organisers and parents who allowed this. What are we teaching our kids?”

Others criticized both the school and the parents for their lack of judgment. One user remarked, “Correction: The failure here is at both ends – the schooling and the parenting!” Another expressed concern over the reactions of the audience, saying, “I am more afraid about the hooting coming from the audience.”

The backlash has continued to gain momentum, with one individual summing up the sentiments of many by stating, “This is sickening!”

The Song in Question

“Aaj Ki Raat,” a popular dance number from Stree 2, was composed by the musical duo Sachin-Jigar. The song is sung by Madhubanti Bagchi, Divya Kumar, and Sachin-Jigar, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Although the track has been a hit with audiences and has inspired numerous social media dance challenges, its use in a school performance has raised concerns about the appropriateness of song choices for young children.

The incident has reignited debates on social media about the responsibilities of schools and parents in choosing age-appropriate content for children, especially during events like Teachers’ Day, which hold significant cultural and educational importance.
