Netflix India has unveiled its upcoming slate of documentaries with a highlight on acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The OTT giant announced on Saturday that it will release a biographical documentary titled “Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli” on August 2, offering audiences an intimate look into the life and career of the visionary director.
In a social media post shared by Netflix India, the documentary promises to delve into the journey of SS Rajamouli, celebrated for his cinematic spectacles like “Baahubali” and the recent blockbuster “RRR”. The caption reads, “One man. Numerous blockbusters. Endless ambition. What did it take for this legendary filmmaker to reach his peak?”
Produced in collaboration with Applause Entertainment and Film Companion Studios, “Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli” will be presented by renowned film critic Anupama Chopra. The documentary aims to explore Rajamouli’s impact on Indian cinema and his global influence, featuring insights from industry stalwarts including James Cameron, Joe Russo, Karan Johar, and Rajamouli’s close associates such as Prabhas, Jr NTR, Rana Daggubati, and Ram Charan.
Anupama Chopra expressed her admiration for Rajamouli’s contributions, stating, “SS Rajamouli is a visionary whose imagination has altered the course of Indian cinema. His craft has captivated audiences around the world. His epic narratives have redefined storytelling standards.”
“Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli” is part of Netflix’s ambitious lineup of documentaries for 2024, which also includes profiles on figures like Yo Yo Honey Singh and subjects ranging from historic cricket rivalries to environmental conservation.
SS Rajamouli, known for his directorial prowess in films like “Magadheera”, “Eega”, and “Baahubali”, recently made a cameo appearance in Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic “Kalki 2898 AD”. His upcoming projects include an untitled film starring Mahesh Babu.
