Najeeb, Inspiration for Prithviraj Sukumaran's 'Aadujeevitham,' Shares Emotional Review of the Film

Najeeb Muhammad, whose harrowing real-life journey inspired the acclaimed film ‘Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life,’ recently shared his emotional review of the movie. Directed by Blessy and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, the film has garnered widespread praise since its release.

Attending the premiere of ‘Aadujeevitham,’ Najeeb expressed the deeply emotional experience of watching his story unfold on the big screen. He mentioned that many scenes brought tears to his eyes and described some moments as too painful to watch. Despite facing a family emergency with the recent loss of his infant grandson, Najeeb felt encouraged by the overwhelming support from well-wishers urging him to attend the premiere.

Najeeb praised Prithviraj Sukumaran’s portrayal of his character in the film, acknowledging the actor’s tremendous performance. He highlighted Prithviraj’s ability to evoke strong emotions, noting that he was moved to tears in most scenes and found it difficult to watch some parts due to the intense portrayal of his struggles.

Aadujeevitham’ narrates the true story of Najeeb, a man from Kerala who ventured to the Gulf in the early ’90s in search of employment but ended up enslaved in harsh conditions, herding goats in the desert with little sustenance. The film depicts his relentless desire to escape and return home, based on the novel ‘Goat Days’ by Benyamin. Despite facing challenges in its development since 2009, ‘Aadujeevitham’ has received critical acclaim for its authenticity and powerful storytelling.

On its opening day, the film amassed ₹7.45 crore nett in India, reflecting its strong reception among audiences. Critics have lauded Prithviraj Sukumaran’s commitment to the role, applauding his transformation and dedication to portraying Najeeb’s character authentically.
