The horror-comedy film Munjya, featuring Mona Singh and Sharvari, has seen a significant surge at the box office. On its ninth day, the film earned approximately ₹6.5 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to over ₹45 crore. Released on June 7, Munjya has been steadily gaining popularity among Indian audiences.
According to Sacnilk.com, Munjya is on the verge of crossing the ₹50 crore mark. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and rooted in Marathi folklore, the film earned ₹35.3 crore in its first week. On its second Friday, it collected ₹3.5 crore, and on the following Saturday, it saw a substantial jump with earnings of ₹6.5 crore. The film had an overall 37.60 percent Hindi occupancy on Saturday.
Munjya stars Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, Suhas Joshi, and Sathyaraj. It is produced by Maddock Films and is set in the same horror-comedy universe as Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), and Bhediya (2022). The film is set in Pune and the Konkan region of Maharashtra and follows the story of the mythical creature Munjya, who wreaks havoc in the life of Bittu, played by Abhay Verma. Mona Singh portrays Pummy, a single working mother who is overly protective of her son Bittu.
Sharvari, who plays a key role in the film, recently expressed her gratitude for the audience’s positive response. In an interview with ANI, she said, “I have waited to receive this kind of appreciation for so long… I am seriously out of words. The audience is giving immense love to our film. My mother is so proud of me… she has been with me through thick and thin and when she saw this film she said that she is proud of me. It meant so much.”
Sharvari also shared a touching experience with fans: “There’s nothing better than receiving blessings from people. I remember when I surprised fans by visiting a theatre screening of Munjya, one woman came to me and blessed me. I am extremely grateful for all the love.”
With its blend of horror and comedy, Munjya has managed to capture the hearts of moviegoers, and its box office performance reflects its growing popularity. As the film approaches the ₹50 crore mark, it continues to entertain and engage audiences across India.
