Bollywood actor Dino Morea and his brother Santino were questioned on Monday by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police in connection with the alleged ₹65 crore Mithi River desilting scam. The development marks a significant turn in the investigation, as the actor’s name surfaced during a probe into financial irregularities and call records linked to the main accused.
According to reports by the Free Press Journal, Dino Morea arrived at the EOW office at around 11 am. The actor was reportedly summoned after multiple phone conversations between him, his brother, and Ketan Kadam—one of the primary accused—were uncovered during the investigation.
Why Was Dino Morea Questioned?
Mumbai Police confirmed that Dino Morea’s name appeared during a review of call data records and financial transactions associated with the alleged scam. As per news agency ANI, “Actor Dino Morea is being questioned by EOW of the Mumbai Police in connection with the Mithi River cleaning scam. His name came up in the investigation for having connections with one of the arrested accused in the matter.”
Authorities are examining whether Morea had any knowledge of or involvement in the dealings between Kadam and other implicated parties. Santino Morea, Dino’s brother, has also been questioned in relation to the same matter.
What Is the Mithi River Scam?
The alleged scam involves financial misconduct concerning the rental of silt pusher machines and dredging equipment by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Investigators suspect that Kadam and his associate Jayesh Joshi acted as intermediaries, inflating the prices of the equipment rented to the BMC, allegedly with the help of officials from the Storm Water Drains (SWD) department and executives of the supplier company, Matprop.
Ketan Kadam is the director of Woder India LLP, a company providing desilting services, while Jayesh Joshi is linked to Virgo Specialties Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of industrial products. Both were arrested earlier by the EOW. So far, 13 people have been booked in the case.

Dino Morea began his Bollywood career with Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi and went on to act in popular films such as Raaz, Gunaah, Aksar, Dus Kahaniyaan, and Heroes. He was recently seen in the web series The Royals, alongside Zeenat Aman, Ishaan Khatter, and Bhumi Pednekar.
He will next be seen in Housefull 5, scheduled for a grand release on June 6. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Johny Lever.
As the investigation unfolds, Mumbai Police continue to probe financial connections and communications in the case, with sources suggesting more names may come under the scanner in the coming weeks.
