Tom Cruise’s swan song as super-spy Ethan Hunt continues to draw audiences across India, as Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning rakes in ₹44.75 crore net within its first four days of release. Despite being a weekday, the action-packed eighth instalment of the franchise maintained steady box office momentum, signaling the enduring appeal of the beloved espionage series.
Released in India on May 17 — ahead of its US debut slated for May 23 — the Christopher McQuarrie-directed film earned an estimated ₹5.50 crore net on Tuesday, according to early estimates by trade tracker Sacnilk. The film previously collected ₹16.5 crore on Saturday and peaked on Sunday with ₹17 crore, followed by a minor dip to ₹5.75 crore on Monday.
In comparison, the previous film in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, earned ₹46.2 crore in its first four days when it hit Indian theatres in 2023. While the latest entry falls slightly short of that benchmark, it has performed consistently given its pre-weekend release.
About the Film
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning marks the conclusion of the nearly three-decade-long saga that began in 1996. The story sees Ethan Hunt once again battling the odds, this time against a powerful AI entity threatening to destroy humanity. The film combines the franchise’s signature death-defying stunts and globe-trotting action with a high-stakes narrative centered around the dangers of unchecked technology.
Cruise reunites with co-stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett in this adrenaline-fueled finale. The screenplay is co-written by McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen.
At the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise confirmed that this would be his final outing as Ethan Hunt. However, the 61-year-old actor assured fans he has no plans of slowing down. “I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s; actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s,” Cruise told The Hollywood Reporter. “I will never stop. I will never stop doing action, I will never stop doing drama, comedy films — I’m excited.”
As Mission: aImpossible – The Final Reckoning continues its run in Indian cinemas, fans have one last chance to witness Cruise’s iconic role come to an epic end.
