The highly acclaimed Malayalam film “Manjummel Boys” is all set to make its mark in Telugu cinema as its Telugu version gears up for a theatrical release on April 6. This move comes after the film’s tremendous success in Malayalam, where it became the first film to cross ₹200 crore worldwide.
Directed by Chidambaram S Poduval, “Manjummel Boys” is a gripping survival thriller inspired by a true incident from 2006, revolving around a group of friends from Kochi. Starring Soubin Shahir, Ganapathi, Khalid Rahman, and Sreenath Bhasi in lead roles, the film has captivated audiences across languages and received widespread acclaim.
The Telugu version’s release has generated anticipation, especially with rumors circulating about the Malayalam version premiering on OTT platforms like Disney+ Hotstar a day before the Telugu release. This strategic move aims to cater to a broader audience base and capitalize on the film’s growing popularity.
Despite facing stiff competition from other releases like “Tillu Square” and Vijay Deverakonda’s “Family Star,” “Manjummel Boys” is expected to draw audiences with its unique storyline and exceptional performances. However, due to the competitive landscape, the film’s theatrical run in Telugu is predicted to be limited to around a week.
“Mythri Movie Makers,” a renowned pan-India production house, has acquired the Telugu rights for “Manjummel Boys” and is presenting it as a summer special for Telugu audiences. The film’s success story is further enhanced by its production team, including Babu Shahir, Soubin Shahir, Shan Antony, Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili, Shaiju Khalid, Sushin Shyam, Vivek Harshan, and Ajayan Chalissery.
