Liam Payne Dies After Falling from Hotel Balcony in Argentina, Report Claims He Was Under the Influence of Drugs

Buenos Aires: British popstar and former One Direction member Liam Payne tragically passed away after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. According to initial reports, Payne was under the influence of multiple substances at the time of his fall, including a dangerous hallucinogenic drug known as “Cristal,” which is infamous for its extreme effects on users, leading to aggressive and unpredictable behavior.

Local police reported that emergency services were called to the hotel after staff described Payne as “an aggressive man overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol.” Authorities suspect that the popstar jumped from the balcony while in an altered state. Upon inspecting his hotel room, investigators found a chaotic scene, with broken items and various drugs, including packs of clonazepam—a central nervous system depressant—alongside energy supplements and over-the-counter medications.

Forensic teams recovered additional items from the courtyard where Payne’s body was found, including a whiskey bottle, a lighter, and his cell phone. Investigators noted that the absence of defensive injuries suggested that Payne may have been semi-conscious or unconscious when he fell. Toxicology results from the narcotics and medications recovered are still pending.

Struggles with Addiction and Mental Health

Payne, who had previously been open about his struggles with addiction and mental health, shared his concerns during a 2021 interview on The Diary of a CEO podcast. “I was worried how far my rock bottom was going to be,” Payne said at the time. “Where’s rock bottom for me? And you would never have seen it. I’m very good at hiding it. No one would ever have seen it.”

Over the years, Payne had entered rehab multiple times and publicly admitted to battling suicidal thoughts during his career. Despite claims earlier this year that he had achieved sobriety, reports suggest he had relapsed in the months leading up to his death, grappling with significant drug addiction.

Investigation Ongoing

As the investigation into Payne’s death continues, fans have gathered outside the CasaSur Palermo Hotel to pay tribute, leaving flowers and lighting candles in his memory. Payne’s former One Direction bandmates expressed their deep sorrow over his passing, remembering the good times they shared with him and asking for privacy during their time of grief.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining all factors contributing to the singer’s tragic death.
