Legendary Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly gifted his iconic Juhu bungalow, Prateeksha, to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan. According to a report by Money Control, a formal gift deed was signed on November 8, accompanied by a payment of ₹50.65 lakh as stamp duty. The stunning property, situated within the Vithal Nagar Cooperative Housing Society Ltd, spans across two plots, measuring 890.47 sq m and 674 sq m respectively. India Today reported the property’s valuation at a staggering ₹50 crore. Notably, Prateeksha stands a mere kilometer away from Amitabh Bachchan’s residence, Jalsa.
Prateeksha holds sentimental value as it was the first house purchased by Amitabh Bachchan, where he resided with his esteemed parents, renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. The name ‘Prateeksha’ was bestowed upon the house by the legendary poet himself.
During an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati’s season 14, Amitabh Bachchan shared insights about the house’s significance, revealing, “This name was given by my father, and there is a line in his father’s poem which says, ‘Swagat sabke liye yahan par nehin kisike liye Prateeksha'”. Adding to its significance, Prateeksha also witnessed the union of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in marriage.
Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter Shweta share a profound bond evident from her heartfelt Instagram post on the veteran actor’s birthday, where she expressed, “Happy 81st Papa. Big shoes ( and hugs ) no one can ever manage to fill.” The celebration was marked by joyous pictures capturing their cherished moments.
Looking ahead, Amitabh Bachchan’s cinematic journey continues with Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 – AD, where he will star alongside Deepika Padukone in a pivotal role. Additionally, both actors will share screen space in the Hindi adaptation of The Intern.
