Kusha Kapila Responds to 'Dehumanizing' Roast with Cryptic Instagram Post: 'Let It Slide Off You'

Kusha Kapila, actor and social media personality, has shared a cryptic message on Instagram Stories following the controversy over a recent roast that she described as “dehumanizing.” The roast, which aired on comedian Ashish Solanki’s Pretty Good Roast Show and was released recently on YouTube, included what Kapila has called “shockingly unkind” jokes about her body and her recent divorce from Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia.

In her Instagram post, Kusha wrote, “When someone’s trying to disempower you, it’s their garbage. It’s not yours to store. Let it slide off you.” This message seemed to reflect her feelings about the roast and the public reaction to it.

The controversy surrounding the roast has led to significant public discourse. Kapila, who sat through the roast in January, revealed that she was not made aware of the content beforehand. She expressed her discomfort and disappointment over the jokes, which she found deeply hurtful. In a detailed statement, Kusha explained, “I had no idea what was in store for me. Maybe I should have asked for a script and known better, but since friends were involved, I didn’t. Rookie mistake.”

She continued, “While I endured some of the really raspy jokes in front of a live audience and technicians, I absolutely was not okay for it to play for millions of people since some jokes straight up dehumanised me. It was shockingly unkind.” Kusha also noted that the episode in question was the first one shot, and that subsequent episodes had seen improvements in respecting boundaries, particularly concerning women.

Controversial Jokes at the Roast

The roast featured several standup comedians, including Samay Raina, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Shreya Priyam Roy, and Gurleen Pannu, who made jokes about Kusha’s personal life and recent weight loss. Samay Raina, in particular, drew criticism for his remarks about Kapila’s divorce and her pet dog. He humorously suggested that the dog should be given to her ex-husband, a comment that many found distasteful.

The roast has sparked a broader conversation about the limits of humor and respect in public performances, with many expressing support for Kusha and questioning the appropriateness of the content.

Kusha Kapila’s Career and Public Response

Kusha Kapila is well-known for her work in various television shows and social media content. Her reaction to the roast has resonated with many fans and industry peers who have expressed their support for her.
