Kichcha Sudeep, the Kannada superstar, is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film Max, set to hit theaters on December 25. During a press conference held ahead of the film’s release, the actor faced a question regarding the choice of an English title for a Kannada film. In typical Sudeep style, the actor responded with sharp reasoning, questioning the logic behind the inquiry.
The question from a reporter was aimed at the decision to name the Kannada film Max, despite it being a regional production. Sudeep, known for his candid nature, swiftly defended the choice, asking, “Why are the names of all news channels in English when the viewers and interviewees like myself are Kannadigas? We’re in Karnataka, having English-medium schools, and the kids going there are Kannadigas!” He went on to challenge the reporter further, saying, “Do you have Apple? Why don’t you try saying Apple in Kannada? So what exactly is the problem?”
The actor’s response seemed to suggest that language barriers in titles have become less relevant in a world increasingly intertwined with global brands and media. Sudeep’s comment was an attempt to highlight the widespread use of English in the daily lives of people, including in education, technology, and entertainment, regardless of the regional language they speak.
Max, directed by Vijay Karthikeyaa, is an action-packed film that also features actors Sunil and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in pivotal roles. The teaser, which introduced Sudeep’s character, shows him as a fierce and skilled individual adept with machetes, set on a mission to settle scores with those who have wronged him. The teaser ends with an energetic sequence showcasing Sudeep’s character dancing at a local temple festival, underscoring the vibrant cultural elements of the film.
The movie is not just limited to Kannada audiences; Max will also be released in other languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, expanding its reach across different regions.
Sudeep, who continues to build a strong fanbase in multiple film industries, is also looking forward to his upcoming projects, which include Billa Ranga Baashaa and Kabzaa 2. On a more personal note, Sudeep suffered a profound loss in October with the passing of his mother, Saroja Sanjeev, due to age-related ailments. He expressed his grief on social media, stating, “I have no words to express the pain I feel right now, I’m unable to accept the void nor come to terms with what has happened. Everything changed in 24 hours.”
Despite his personal challenges, Sudeep’s commitment to his craft and his candid responses to questions during promotions continue to resonate with his fans. As Max prepares for its December 25 release, Sudeep’s defense of the film’s title and his dedication to his work are sure to be topics of continued discussion among his followers.
