Kiara Advani is facing significant backlash on social media after she praised choreographer Jani Master in a recent Instagram post. The actress shared a behind-the-scenes (BTS) video from her dance rehearsals for the song Dhop from her upcoming film Game Changer. In the video, Kiara expressed her admiration for Jani Master’s choreography, saying, “I remember seeing @alwaysjani master’s choreography and thinking how are we going to do this, but that’s the beauty of our job, always learning something new.”
While the post was meant to celebrate the choreographer’s work, it triggered a wave of criticism from netizens. The backlash stems from serious allegations against Jani Master, who was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a woman accused him of sexual assault and mental harassment. The woman, who was 16 years old at the time of the alleged incidents, accused the choreographer of raping her. As a result of the allegations, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting suspended Jani Master’s National Film Award, which he had won for choreographing the song Megham Karukkatha.
Kiara’s post did not sit well with many fans, who voiced their disappointment in the comments section. One user commented, “Tone-deaf, especially when even his national award was taken back after the uproar over granting him bail.” Another wrote, “The actors seriously don’t care about anything.” Many users also expressed concern over the lack of moral consideration in the post, with one saying, “The so-called cream of the crop are truly built differently, they come across as tone-deaf and completely lacking morals.”
The controversy comes at a time when Kiara Advani is in the spotlight for her upcoming film Game Changer, which is set to release on January 10, 2025. Directed by Shankar, the film stars Kiara alongside Ram Charan, Anjali, Samuthirakani, S. J. Suryah, Srikanth, Prakash Raj, and Sunil. Despite the criticism surrounding her recent post, Kiara’s professional work continues to attract attention, and Game Changer remains highly anticipated.
