
Karan Singh Tyagi’s directorial debut, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, is continuing its strong run at the box office, collecting over ₹33 crore in its first four days. The historical courtroom drama, featuring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, has managed to maintain its momentum following a solid weekend.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Kesari Chapter 2 earned an estimated ₹4.14 crore on its first Monday, bringing the film’s total domestic collection to ₹33.64 crore net. The film opened with ₹7.75 crore on Thursday and saw significant growth over the weekend, earning ₹9.75 crore on Friday and ₹12 crore on Saturday, with 25.81% and 23.08% increases respectively.
Despite Monday being a working day, the film registered an 11.83% occupancy rate across India, with numbers reportedly improving as the day progressed.
Strong Support from Celebrities
Kesari Chapter 2 has also garnered praise from within the film industry. Celebrities such as Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan took to social media to share their admiration for the film.
Vicky Kaushal wrote, “An untold story told with so much grit, sincerity and sensitivity! This is one hell of a directorial debut @karanstyagi.”

About the Film
In Kesari Chapter 2, Akshay Kumar plays C. Sankaran Nair, a lawyer who courageously takes on the British Empire in court following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. R Madhavan plays the role of British lawyer Neville McKinley, while Ananya Panday portrays Dilreet Gill, a pivotal character in the narrative.
Produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films, the movie hit theatres on April 18, 2025. With strong word-of-mouth and continued celebrity endorsements, the film is expected to hold well in the coming days.
