Kantara 2 Actor and Comedy Khiladigalu Winner Rakesh Poojary Dies of Heart Attack at 34

Kannada television and film industry is mourning the untimely demise of actor and comedian Rakesh Poojary, who passed away at the age of 34 due to a sudden heart attack. The actor reportedly collapsed at a mehendi ceremony in Nitte, near Udupi, on Sunday evening. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead later that night.

Rakesh had recently completed his part in Kantara Chapter 1, the much-anticipated prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, directed by and starring Rishab Shetty. Just days before his death, he had shared a photo from the pre-wedding ceremony on his Instagram Stories, showing no signs of ill health. His sudden passing comes shortly after the tragic drowning of a junior artiste involved with the same film project. However, the makers clarified that the drowning did not occur on the film’s set and extended their condolences to the deceased’s family.

Rakesh rose to fame in 2020 after emerging as the winner of Season 3 of the popular Kannada reality show Comedy Khiladigalu. Known for his ever-smiling presence and quick wit, Rakesh became a beloved figure among audiences and peers alike.

The news of his passing has sent shockwaves across the Kannada entertainment industry. Tributes poured in from fellow actors and fans on social media. Actor Pruthvi Ambar expressed his grief on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Always with a pure sweet-hearted smile, ever loving, and extremely talented artist, you will always remain in our heart, deeply saddened. Rakesh, we miss you!”

Rakshitha, a judge on Comedy Khiladigalu, shared an emotional tribute on her Instagram Stories. “The ever-smiling Rakesha… my fav Rakesha. The sweetest, kindest, most loving person… Namma Rakesha. Will miss you, mange,” she wrote.

In another message, she added, “Not able to come to terms that I will never be able to talk to Rakesha anymore… He always stood apart on the show… What a talent and even off-camera, the most perfect guy I knew… You will always live in our hearts. Everyone is going to miss you — your smile, your mischief, and the happiness you brought into our lives. Thank you, Rakesha.”

Rakesh Poojary’s unexpected death is a stark reminder of the fragile nature of life. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and warmth, remembered not only as a talented performer but also as a genuinely kind-hearted soul.
