Kanguva Box Office Collection Day 3: Suriya Starrer Sees Slight Growth, Nears ₹43 Crore Mark

The much-anticipated film, Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol, witnessed a minor rise in earnings on its third day at the Indian box office. Despite a dip in collections on day two, the film managed to regain momentum, adding ₹9.50 crore nett on Saturday, bringing its total to ₹42.75 crore.

Opening Weekend Performance

Directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green, Kanguva had a blockbuster opening, earning ₹24 crore nett on day one across all languages. The breakdown for its opening day earnings is as follows:

  • Tamil: ₹14.9 crore
  • Hindi: ₹3.5 crore
  • Telugu: ₹5.5 crore
  • Kannada: ₹3 lakh
  • Malayalam: ₹7 lakh

This marked Suriya’s career-best opening, surpassing the collections of his 2013 film Singam II.

On day two, the film’s earnings dipped to ₹9.25 crore, with Tamil remaining the dominant language at ₹4.61 crore. However, the day three numbers reflect a slight recovery, with the film earning ₹9.50 crore nett in India.

Spectacular Visuals and a Massive Budget

Kanguva is touted as one of the most expensive Tamil films ever made, with a staggering budget of over ₹350 crore. The film was shot across multiple countries and picturesque locations in India, featuring epic battle sequences and grand visuals. The storyline spans a timeline of 1,500 years, adding a historical and mythical depth to the narrative.

The film stars Suriya in dual roles, alongside Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, and Yogi Babu. Suriya’s portrayal of the warrior Kanguva has earned praise, with critics highlighting his flawless performance. However, reviews suggest that while Bobby Deol delivers a commendable performance as the antagonist, his character could have been better utilized. Disha Patani’s role, on the other hand, has been described as limited to adding visual appeal.

Audience Reception

On Saturday, Kanguva recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 21.62%, indicating a steady interest from viewers. Fans have lauded the film’s stunning visuals and immersive storytelling, with Suriya’s transformation and action sequences being the primary highlights.

Conclusion

With its strong opening weekend performance, Kanguva has set the stage for a promising box office run. The coming days will determine if the film can maintain its momentum and achieve greater milestones.
