Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Collection Day 6: Prabhas' Sci-Fi Film Inches Closer to ₹600 Crore Mark Worldwide

Director Nag Ashwin’s ambitious 3D sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD, is steadily approaching the ₹600 crore milestone at the global box office. Released on June 27 in six languages—Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English—the film has shown a slight decline in daily earnings but continues to perform impressively.

Box Office Performance

On its sixth day, Kalki 2898 AD earned over ₹27.85 crore in India, according to Sacnilk. The breakdown of the collections is as follows:

  • Telugu: ₹11.2 crore
  • Tamil: ₹1.2 crore
  • Hindi: ₹14 crore
  • Kannada: ₹0.25 crore
  • Malayalam: ₹1.2 crore

This brings the film’s total collection in India to ₹371 crore. Globally, the film has minted ₹570 crore as per Sacnilk. In the UK, the film’s collection after five days stood at over £957,173. In North America, Kalki 2898 AD has become the fastest film to reach the $12.5 million mark, according to Prathyangira Cinemas, which released the movie in the US.

Production and Cast

Made with a reported budget of ₹600 crore, Kalki 2898 AD features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. The film presents a dystopian world inspired by Hindu scriptures, set in the year 2898 AD.

Initial Success

The film’s makers had earlier shared that Kalki 2898 AD earned ₹550 crore globally during its opening weekend. Released in India on June 27, the film made an impressive debut with an opening day collection of ₹191 crore worldwide. Comparatively, Kalki 2898 AD‘s first-day nett collection exceeded last year’s top opener Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which earned ₹75 crore on its first day. Jawan eventually amassed ₹640.25 crore nett in India and a total of ₹1,160 crore worldwide, as per Sacnilk.

Conclusion

Kalki 2898 AD‘s performance at the box office underscores the film’s massive appeal and the successful execution of a high-budget sci-fi narrative. As the film continues to attract audiences worldwide, it edges closer to the ₹600 crore mark, solidifying its position as one of the major releases of the year.
