Alia Bhatt’s latest film, Jigra, has crossed the ₹15 crore mark at the box office, although it saw a slight dip in earnings on its third day. The film, which features Bhatt alongside Vedang Raina, recorded ₹5.65 crore in the domestic market on Sunday, according to Sacnilk. This brings the total collection to ₹16.75 crore.
The crime fiction drama, directed by Vasan Bala, has generated a 26.57% overall Hindi occupancy on its first Sunday. However, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that while Jigra gained some momentum on Saturday, it wasn’t enough to secure a comfortable position in the box office rankings. He pointed out that the film’s urban-centric appeal limits its reach in mass markets, which might explain why it hasn’t achieved a breakthrough beyond major centers.
Adarsh shared insights into Jigra‘s performance on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The Saturday boost should’ve been stronger, especially with the #Dussehra holiday… All eyes are on its performance on Sunday.” He added, “Friday’s earnings were ₹4.55 crore, and Saturday’s were ₹6.58 crore, bringing the total to ₹11.13 crore.”
The plot of Jigra follows Satya, played by Alia Bhatt, as she embarks on a mission to rescue her brother Ankur, who has been wrongfully imprisoned and faces a death sentence in a fictional nation. The film also stars Manoj Pahwa, Harssh A Singh, Ankur Khanna, Rahul Ravindran, and Vivek Gomber in key roles.
Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Soumen Mishra under the banners of Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra is currently competing with Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video at the box office.
