Jayam Ravi Responds to Wife Aarti’s Divorce Statement: "I Walked Out with Nothing"

Tamil actor Jayam Ravi, known for his blockbuster hits Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Ponniyin Selvan 2, is facing personal turmoil amid the dissolution of his marriage to wife Aarti. The actor, who publicly announced their divorce on September 9, explained the circumstances that led to his decision and responded to Aarti’s recent claims.

Divorce Announcement and Aarti’s Reaction

Ravi revealed that he had no choice but to make the divorce public after Aarti failed to respond to two legal notices. Speaking exclusively to Hindustan Times, Ravi said, “I sent Aarti two legal notices in the months before September 9, and she didn’t respond to either one of them. I was forced to make the divorce announcement public because rumors were already circulating, and I felt accountable to my fans. With the media talking about it, I couldn’t just stay quiet.”

On September 11, Aarti took to social media to express her surprise, stating that the divorce announcement was made without her “knowledge or consent” and that she felt “blindsided.” Ravi, however, disputed this claim, asserting that both families, as well as Aarti herself, were well aware of his intentions. “That’s absolutely not true. We had a discussion together with both our families, and then she and I had a separate conversation where I clearly told her this is what I wanted,” he explained.

Ravi further stated that he even had a conversation with Aarti’s father after their discussion. “How can they claim otherwise?” he added.

A Personal Struggle

While Jayam Ravi has chosen not to go into specific details of their marital issues, he acknowledged that the situation will now be dealt with in court. Reflecting on his decision to leave, Ravi said, “I have worked so hard to achieve what I have in life, but I felt extremely suffocated after a point. When I walked out of the house a few months back, I walked out with nothing. I just took one car.”

Despite his successful career and public persona, Ravi describes his current situation as one of uncertainty. “I am a nomad now,” he added with a smile.

The Road Ahead

As Jayam Ravi moves forward with legal proceedings, he remains focused on his professional life. With the success of the Ponniyin Selvan franchise behind him, fans are now waiting to see what the future holds for the actor. However, it is clear that his personal life is in the midst of a major transition, and both he and Aarti will now be facing the next steps in court.
