Viral Video: Jaya Bachchan Snaps at Fan for Seeking Photo During Manoj Kumar’s Prayer Meet

Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has once again sparked a social media storm after a video of her reacting sharply to a fan at late actor Manoj Kumar’s prayer meet went viral. The incident took place on Sunday, when members of the film fraternity and well-wishers gathered to pay their respects to the legendary actor-director who passed away on Friday due to heart-related complications.

In the now-viral video, Jaya Bachchan is seen speaking with a group of women when an elderly lady taps her on the shoulder. As Bachchan turns around, a man — likely accompanying the woman — is seen trying to take a picture of them. The woman then extends her hand, possibly for a handshake, which Jaya visibly brushes aside, appearing irked. She then reprimands the man for clicking pictures at a solemn event such as a prayer meet.

Reactions to the video have been divided. While some criticized Jaya Bachchan’s seemingly brusque behavior, others defended her, pointing out the inappropriateness of asking for photos during a memorial.

One social media user commented, “I don’t think she was trying to meet but was trying to click a photo with Jaya. A funeral isn’t the right place to click pics. Jaya can also talk politely.” Another wrote, “I’m sorry but why on earth would you think that a funeral is an appropriate place to ask for photos?” Others stood firmly by the actress, saying, “People trying to click pics in prayer meet should be kicked out. This time, Jaya is right.”

The prayer meet saw many prominent personalities from the film industry in attendance, including Aamir Khan, Asha Parekh, Rakesh Roshan, Ramesh Sippy, Subhash Ghai, Johny Lever, Jaaved Jaaferi, Honey Irani, Aruna Irani, Anu Malik, David Dhawan, and singers Sonu Nigam and Udit Narayan, among others.

Manoj Kumar, remembered for iconic films such as Shaheed, Upkar, Purab Aur Pachhim, Roti Kapda Aur Makan, and Kranti, was laid to rest with full honors. His contributions to Indian cinema have left an indelible mark, making his loss deeply felt across generations.
