In a heartening display of philanthropy, the team behind the superhero film HanuMan, led by director Prasanth Varma and starring Teja Sajja, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Amritha Aiyer, and Vinay Rai, has announced a substantial donation of ₹2.6 crore to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The contribution comes as part of their commitment to donate ₹5 for every ticket sold to the highly anticipated movie, which was released on January 12, 2024.
The team’s dedication to this cause was evident from the outset, as they pledged ₹5 for every ticket sold during the film’s premieres, resulting in a commendable ₹14,85,810 donation from 2,97,162 tickets. Now, as HanuMan continues to captivate audiences worldwide, the team is fulfilling their promise once again by contributing ₹2,66,41,055 from the sale of 53,28,211 tickets.
The film’s success is undeniable, having crossed the ₹150 crore mark globally and maintaining strong box office numbers even on weekdays. HanuMan witnessed maximum occupancy in domestic and overseas markets during its second weekend, affirming its popularity among audiences.
The donation holds significant importance as it coincides with the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya scheduled for January 22. The team’s generosity aligns with their commitment to support the construction and maintenance of the historic temple.
Numerous celebrities from the film industry, sports, and politics are expected to attend the consecration ceremony. Invitations have been extended to luminaries such as Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Jackie Shroff, Anushka Sharma, and others. Notably, actors like Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, and Pawan Kalyan have also made personal contributions to the temple.
While some, like actor Mohan Babu and director Vivek Agnihotri, expressed regret for not being able to attend due to prior commitments, others, including Rajinikanth and Dhanush, were spotted leaving for Ayodhya from Chennai, heightening the anticipation surrounding the star-studded event.
HanuMan continues to weave its magic in theaters, narrating the tale of a young man named Hanumanthu (Teja) who acquires superpowers after encountering a mystical totem in his village. The film revolves around his journey as he confronts a capitalistic villain (Vinay) with the unwavering support of his sister (Varalaxmi) and lover (Amritha).
As the team’s benevolent gesture resonates with fans and the broader community alike, it adds a heartwarming chapter to the success story of HanuMan and reinforces the power of cinema to inspire positive change.
