Gangster Goldy Brar Breaks Silence on Sidhu Moose Wala's Murder, Claims "No Remorse"

More than two years after the brutal killing of Punjabi music icon Sidhu Moose Wala, gangster Satinderjit Singh, better known as Goldy Brar, has publicly confessed to his involvement in the murder, citing revenge and a sense of betrayal as motives. In a chilling and unapologetic interview with the BBC, the Canada-based gangster claimed the decision to kill Moose Wala was deliberate and calculated.

“It Was Either Him or Us,” Says Brar

On May 29, 2022, Moose Wala was ambushed and shot dead near his native village in Punjab’s Mansa district. His black Mahindra Thar SUV was riddled with over 100 bullets in broad daylight, sending shockwaves across the nation and among his global fan base.

Speaking from an undisclosed location in North America, Brar told the BBC, “In his arrogance, he [Moose Wala] made some mistakes that could not be forgiven. We had no option but to kill him… It was either him or us.”

Brar is a close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and is designated a terrorist under India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). An Interpol Red Corner Notice has been issued against him, and India’s Ministry of Home Affairs has accused him of being involved in arms trafficking, cross-border terrorism, and targeted killings.

Tensions Rooted in Rivalries and Political Allegiances

According to Brar, the dispute with Moose Wala was initially sparked over a kabaddi tournament, where Moose Wala allegedly supported rivals of the Bishnoi gang. “He was promoting our rivals… that upset Lawrence and others. They threatened him, said they wouldn’t spare him,” Brar said.

The tension was reportedly defused temporarily through the intervention of Bishnoi’s associate, Vicky Middukhera, who was later assassinated in Mohali in 2021. Brar claims Moose Wala played a role in Middukhera’s killing — a claim never substantiated by law enforcement, but which, Brar says, fuelled their quest for revenge.

“He should have been booked. He should have been jailed. But nobody listened to our plea. So we took it upon ourselves,” he declared. “When decency falls on deaf ears, it’s the gunshot that gets heard.”

Denouncing the Legal System

Brar dismissed India’s legal system as inaccessible and unjust for people like him. “Law. Justice. There’s no such thing… Only the powerful can get justice,” he said. “I did what I had to do for my brother. I have no remorse whatsoever.”

Government Stance and Crackdown

India’s Home Ministry has linked Brar with banned terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International, and alleges he is part of a network smuggling high-grade weapons across the India-Pakistan border via drones. Authorities believe he continues to run a criminal syndicate from Canada, despite international pressure for his extradition.

The interview has reignited demands from Indian authorities for Canadian cooperation in Brar’s extradition and stronger actions against transnational gang networks operating from foreign soil.

Public Outrage and Legal Debate

Brar’s open confession and lack of remorse have triggered widespread outrage among the public and legal experts, who warn that glorification or normalization of gang violence could further erode faith in the justice system.

Sidhu Moose Wala, born Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was a rising star in Punjabi music and politics. His legacy remains strong, with fans and artists continuing to seek justice in his name.
