Gangs of Godavari Box Office Collection Day 1: Vishwak Sen, Neha Sshetty, Anjali's Telugu Film Earns ₹4.5 Crore in India

“Gangs of Godavari,” the highly anticipated Telugu film starring Vishwak Sen, Neha Sshetty, and Anjali, has made an impressive debut at the box office. Directed by Krishna Chaitanya and produced by Naga Vamsi, the film hit theatres on Friday and recorded a commendable first-day collection of ₹4.5 crore nett in India, as per Sacnilk.com. The film saw an overall Telugu occupancy of 38.12 percent on its opening day.

“Gangs of Godavari” opened to positive numbers, reflecting the audience’s anticipation and interest in the film. The movie, which delves into the power dynamics in the Godavari region, features Vishwak Sen in an unprecedented rustic avatar. Known for his urban roles, Vishwak’s transformation for this film has been a significant talking point among fans and critics alike.

The film’s storyline revolves around the character Lankala Rathna, portrayed by Vishwak Sen. Rathna, a member of the tribal community, evolves from a petty thief to a formidable gangster and politician. Neha Sshetty and Anjali play pivotal roles as Rathna’s wife, Bujji, and confidante, Rathnamala, respectively. The narrative captures Rathna’s meteoric rise to becoming Tiger Rathnakar, the most dreaded and wanted man in Godavari. However, despite the thrilling pace, the film reportedly falls short of making Rathna’s character relatable to the audience.

According to a review in the Hindustan Times, director Krishna Chaitanya narrates Rathna’s journey with a breakneck speed that keeps viewers engaged for the film’s 2-hour-26-minute runtime. However, the rapid pacing also means that audiences may not fully empathize with Rathna during his downfall. The film touches on caste politics in some scenes but does not delve deeply into the subject.

In a recent interview with The Times of India, Vishwak Sen shared insights into his character in “Gangs of Godavari.” He expressed his excitement about playing Lankala Rathna, describing it as the best role of his career. “I like to push the envelope and experiment with my characters,” he said. Vishwak also underwent dialect training to perfect his West Godavari accent, stepping away from his usual Telangana dialect.

The film’s music, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, has also been a highlight, adding to the film’s overall appeal. The teaser, which showcased Vishwak Sen’s new avatar, generated significant buzz and set high expectations for the film.

With a strong opening and positive word-of-mouth, “Gangs of Godavari” seems poised for a successful run at the box office. The film’s unique storyline, compelling performances, and captivating music have struck a chord with the audience, promising an engaging cinematic experience.
