"Ganapath Review: Tiger Shroff Shines in an Action Film Marred by Clichés"

An action film marred by clichés, “Ganapath – A Hero is Born” oscillates between multiple conflicting themes, struggling to find its identity. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the movie aspires to kickstart a super-fighter franchise but falls short of delivering the necessary firepower.

The film introduces us to Ganapath, portrayed by Tiger Shroff, who initially appears as a driftwood character, finding his true calling as a fighter in a kickboxing arena. However, his journey takes a while to gain momentum, leaving the audience waiting for the real action to begin.

Set in a dystopian world, the movie presents a stark contrast between the affluent Silver City and the impoverished, struggling city in ruins. The narrative revolves around Ganapath, a reluctant fighter who undergoes a transformation into a one-man army. Despite some cool moves and flips, the film fails to deliver the expected excitement.

While the story attempts to depict the consequences of toxic masculinity, it falls short of offering a compelling message. The film perpetuates violence as a means of liberation without exploring the root issues.

The narrative navigates between the futuristic, hi-tech megalopolis of Silver City and the impoverished dwellings of the dispossessed. Amitabh Bachchan makes a special appearance as Dalapati, Ganapath’s sage-like grandfather, guiding the protagonist towards fulfilling a grand prophecy.

The movie largely sidelines its female characters, reducing them to mere props, while Ganapath engages in bare-knuckle fights organized by John the Englishman, portrayed by Palestinian actor Ziad Bakri. John is part of a wicked crime syndicate that dominates the narrative.

The film’s climax introduces a new antagonist, an invincible and near-robotic figure, Dalini. This paves the way for a lukewarm Part 2 of the story.

Ganapath’s journey unfolds as he becomes a force of nature, surviving challenging ordeals. Kriti Sanon, playing the character Jassi, plays a significant role in shaping Ganapath’s path.

The film projects various religious iconography but harbors an overt dislike for anyone outside the supposed mainstream. The main antagonist, John, hails from Palestine, and the movie features characters from other nationalities, contributing to the chaotic action.

Despite its visual appeal and Tiger Shroff’s dedication to the role, “Ganapath” remains a simplistic, thin storyline marred by clichés. The film fails to elevate its narrative with hackneyed means, resulting in a disappointing cinematic experience.

In summary, “Ganapath” offers flashes of excitement but is ultimately overshadowed by its reliance on stereotypes and lack of depth in its storytelling.
