Ram Charan and Kiara Advani-starrer “Game Changer,” directed by Shankar, continues to generate buzz at the box office as it gears up to enter the ₹100 crore club. Despite mixed reviews, the film has managed to cross the lifetime collection of Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2,” also helmed by Shankar, within just three days of its release.
According to a report by Sacnilk.com, “Game Changer” earned ₹17 crore on its third day, including ₹8 crore from its Telugu version, ₹1.2 crore from Tamil, ₹7.7 crore from Hindi, and ₹10 lakh from Kannada. This takes its total Indian net collection to ₹89.6 crore. The milestone comes after a strong opening day of ₹51 crore, though the film experienced a significant 57.65% drop on day two, collecting ₹21.6 crore.
Occupancy and Performance
“Game Changer” saw varying occupancy rates across languages. The Telugu version recorded an 18.01% occupancy for morning shows on day three, improving to 33.22% for afternoon shows. However, its Tamil and Hindi versions struggled to garner similar momentum.
The film’s weekend performance has been underwhelming, raising questions about its sustainability in the coming days. With competition from Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj and Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, it remains to be seen whether “Game Changer” can maintain its momentum and draw more audiences during the Sankranthi festive season.
Plot and Cast
“Game Changer” delves into the theme of corruption in electoral politics. Ram Charan plays dual roles—an IAS officer named Ram Nandan and an activist named Appanna. SJ Suryah portrays the antagonist Mopidevi, a corrupt politician. Kiara Advani, Anjali, and SJ Suryah add to the ensemble cast, bringing depth to the narrative.
Despite its ambitious storyline and star-studded cast, the film has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Its performance in the crucial second week will determine whether it can solidify its position as a Sankranthi blockbuster.
Box Office Outlook
While “Game Changer” has surpassed Indian 2‘s ₹81.32 crore lifetime net collection in India, it has not met expectations for a Sankranthi release of this scale. The coming days will reveal whether the film can maintain its trajectory and join the coveted ₹100 crore club.
