Hollywood star Gal Gadot, renowned for her role as Wonder Woman, recently revealed the harrowing experience she faced during her eighth month of pregnancy earlier this year. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the actor shared that she had been diagnosed with a “massive blood clot” in her brain, a condition known as Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT), which she described as treatable yet life-threatening.
Gadot’s post detailed her emotional and physical struggles during the ordeal, along with her gratitude for the support she received from her family and medical team. She also expressed her desire to spread awareness about CVT, a rare condition that affects approximately 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in their 30s.
A Profound Journey of Challenges and Recovery
In her Instagram post, Gal Gadot shared a poignant photo of herself with her newborn daughter, Ori, taken from her hospital bed. Reflecting on her experience, she wrote, “This year has been one of profound challenges and deep reflections… I decided to let my heart guide me.”
Gadot recounted the weeks of excruciating headaches that confined her to bed, eventually leading to an MRI that uncovered the blood clot. She underwent emergency surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a moment she described as a turning point filled with fear and uncertainty.
“In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change,” she wrote. During this tumultuous time, her daughter Ori was born, bringing light and hope to Gadot’s life.
The Meaning Behind the Name Ori
The actor revealed the deeply personal significance of her daughter’s name, Ori, which means “my light” in Hebrew. Before the surgery, Gadot confided in her husband, Jaron Varsano, that their child would symbolize hope and resilience. “Her name wasn’t chosen by chance… I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”
A Message of Awareness and Empowerment
Gadot emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body and recognizing signs of discomfort. She highlighted the rarity of CVT but underscored the need for early detection and treatment. “Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often carry deeper meaning… Awareness matters,” she noted.
She hoped that sharing her story would empower others, saying, “If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing.”
A Grateful Heart and a New Chapter
In March, when Gadot announced Ori’s arrival, she described her pregnancy as challenging but ultimately rewarding. She wrote, “You have brought so much light into our lives, living up to your name… Our hearts are full of gratitude.”
Gadot, who has been married to Jaron Varsano since 2008, is also a mother to daughters Alma (12), Maya (6), and Daniella (2).
On the Work Front
The actor was last seen in the Netflix spy action thriller Heart of Stone (2023), where she portrayed Rachel Stone. As Gadot embarks on this new chapter of her life, fans and well-wishers continue to pour in support and admiration for her strength and resilience.
