Farhan Akhtar is set to make his much-anticipated return to the big screen after a three-year hiatus with the military action film 120 Bahadur. The actor, who was last seen in Toofaan (2021), will portray the heroic Major Shaitan Singh Bhati in this film based on the Battle of Rezang La during the Indo-China war of 1962.
Farhan announced the project on Instagram by sharing a motion poster, with the powerful text, “Vo teen the… Aur hum? 120 Bahadur.” Directed by Razneesh “Razy” Ghai, the film promises to be an epic tale of courage, sacrifice, and heroism. In the caption, Farhan expressed the honor he feels in portraying Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra (PVC) for his valor. He added, “It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC and the soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon regiment… It is a story of remarkable courage, heroism, and selflessness shown by our men in uniform against all odds.”
Farhan also acknowledged the support of the Indian Army in bringing this important chapter of history to life, writing, “We are grateful to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this incredible tale of valour to the screen.”
The announcement quickly drew attention, with several Bollywood celebrities reacting to the post. Actor Ranveer Singh dropped fist-bump, trident, black heart, evil eye, and fire emojis, while Farhan’s sister, director Zoya Akhtar, responded with evil eye and red heart emojis. Actor Pulkit Samrat joined in with fire and flexed biceps emojis, showing excitement for the upcoming project.
Just a day before the official announcement, Farhan teased the film by sharing a cryptic note on his Instagram Stories, saying, “Back in my acting boots for a very special film. Can’t wait to share details with you. Announcement tomorrow. Stay tuned.”
As 120 Bahadur gears up for production, fans are eager to see Farhan Akhtar step into the role of Major Shaitan Singh and bring this inspiring story of valor to the big screen.
