Esha Deol Reveals Dharmendra's Wishes for Her Early Marriage Over Acting Career

In a recent interview, Esha Deol, known for her role in “Dhoom,” opened up about her father’s initial disapproval of her acting career. Esha revealed that Dharmendra, her father and a legendary figure in Bollywood, had hoped she would marry at the age of 18 rather than pursuing a career in films.

Describing her father’s perspective, Esha said, “He didn’t want me to enter films. He was rightfully orthodox because he was a Punjabi, so he wanted me to get married and settle down at 18 because that was his conditioning, he’s coming from there. The women in his family are brought up that way. But my upbringing was very different in my house, seeing my mom act in films and her dance gave me a direction. It was ingrained inside me that I wanted to do something.”

Esha acknowledged that convincing her father to support her career choice was challenging but expressed satisfaction with the eventual outcome, noting that “today is a different story.”

Esha Deol is the daughter of veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, who also have another daughter, Ahana Deol. On a personal note, Esha and her husband, businessman Bharat Takhtani, recently announced their separation in February. They released a joint statement emphasizing their commitment to their children’s well-being and requested privacy during this transitional period.
