In a groundbreaking move that marks a significant milestone for Indian cinema, Jeetu Joseph’s iconic thriller “Drishyam” is poised to make its mark in Hollywood. After captivating audiences across various Indian languages and even making waves in the Chinese market, the critically acclaimed film is now set for an English remake.

Originally released in 2013, the Malayalam film starred the legendary Mohanlal alongside Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil in pivotal roles. Its gripping narrative and stellar performances earned it widespread acclaim, spawning numerous adaptations in different languages.

The news of the Hollywood remake was confirmed by trade analyst Ramesh Bala, who shared the exciting development on social media platforms. Producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, known for their astute vision in the industry, are spearheading this ambitious project. Joining forces with Gulfstream Pictures and JOAT Films, Panorama Studios is all set to bring “Drishyam” to the global stage.

The acquisition of international remake rights from the original producers, Aashirvad Cinemas, further underscores the magnitude of this venture. Sreedhar Pillai revealed this crucial detail, solidifying the commitment of Panorama Studios to ensure the integrity and essence of the original film are preserved in the upcoming Hollywood adaptation.

The “Drishyam” franchise has already left an indelible mark on the cinematic landscape, with successful remakes in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Sinhala, and Mandarin Chinese. Directors across various industries have helmed these adaptations, each adding their unique touch while staying true to the essence of the story.

The sequel, “Drishyam 2,” released in 2021, further cemented the legacy of the franchise, earning praise as a worthy continuation of its predecessor. Mohanlal reprised his role as Georgekutty, navigating the complexities of life post the events of the first film. The sequel’s success paved the way for remakes in Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, further expanding the franchise’s reach.

With Hollywood now on the horizon, “Drishyam” is poised to captivate audiences worldwide with its riveting tale of family, deception, and resilience.
