The action thriller faces stiff competition from Sky Force, which could impact its weekend numbers. However, Zee Studios reported that Deva grossed ₹10.31 crore on its opening day, comprising ₹6.82 crore from India and ₹3.49 crore overseas. Trade websites reported similar figures, estimating a ₹6.60 crore gross collection in India and ₹10.10 crore worldwide.
About the Film
Deva revolves around ACP Dev Ambre, played by Shahid Kapoor, a hot-headed and womanizing cop who loses his memory while investigating his best friend’s murder. The film is a remake of Rosshan Andrrews’ 2013 Malayalam hit Mumbai Police, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. While the core plot remains, significant changes have been made to the storyline, particularly in the climax.
Pooja Hegde plays Divya Sathaye, a journalist and Dev’s love interest. The film has received a mixed response from critics and audiences, but Shahid Kapoor’s performance has been widely appreciated.
