"Laapataa Ladies Enjoys Box Office Growth on Day 9: Kiran Rao's Film Nears ₹8 Crore Milestone"

Kiran Rao’s directorial venture, “Laapataa Ladies,” continues to charm audiences as it witnesses a surge in box office collections on its ninth day of release. The film, featuring newcomers Pratibha Ratna, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Nitanshi Goel, has garnered praise for its unique storyline and engaging performances.

According to reports from Sacnilk.com, “Laapataa Ladies” has amassed nearly ₹8 crore at the Indian box office thus far. The film experienced a notable jump in collections on its second Saturday, raking in ₹90 lakh nett, as per early estimates. This achievement further solidifies its position as a crowd-pleaser.

In its first week, “Laapataa Ladies” garnered ₹6.05 crore, followed by ₹60 lakh on its second Friday. With the recent surge in collections, the film has now accumulated ₹7.55 crore in India alone. The positive reception from both critics and audiences has undoubtedly contributed to its success.

Celebrating the spirit of International Women’s Day, the team of “Laapataa Ladies” recently released the song “Dheeme Dheeme” from the film. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal and composed by Ram Sampath, the song intricately weaves the tale of brides and their lives against the backdrop of rural India.

Set in the fictitious state of Nirmal Pradesh in 2001, “Laapataa Ladies” humorously explores the story of two brides, Phool and Pushpa, who are accidentally swapped during a train journey. As one bride finds herself taken home by the wrong groom, the other is left stranded at a railway station. The ensuing chaos prompts a police officer named Kishan to investigate the case, leading to a series of comedic mishaps.

Starring acclaimed actors Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam, “Laapataa Ladies” is presented by Jio Studios and produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Kiran Rao’s Kindling Productions. The film, produced by Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan, and Jyoti Deshpande, features dialogue and screenplay by Sneha Desai, with additional dialogues by Divyanidhi Sharma.

Based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, “Laapataa Ladies” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2023, receiving a standing ovation from the audience. As it continues its successful theatrical run, the film promises to captivate viewers with its heartfelt narrative and endearing characters.
