A court in Punjab has issued an arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Sonu Sood in connection with an alleged fraud case involving ₹10 lakh. The warrant was issued by Ludhiana Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur after Sood failed to appear in court despite being summoned to testify.
Case Details and Allegations
The fraud case was filed by Ludhiana-based lawyer Rajesh Khanna against a man named Mohit Shukla. Khanna alleged that he was deceived into investing in a fraudulent Rijika coin scheme, leading to financial losses. Sonu Sood was summoned to provide testimony in the case but failed to attend the court proceedings, prompting the court to take strict action.
Court’s Order for Sonu Sood’s Arrest
Following his absence, the Ludhiana court directed the Officer In-Charge of Oshiwara Police Station, Andheri West, Mumbai, to arrest Sonu Sood and ensure his appearance before the court. The order explicitly stated that Sood had been served with summons or warrants but had avoided attending court.
The court’s directive read:
“Sonu Sood, resident of H.NO 605/606 Casablanc Apartment, has been duly served with summon(s) or warrant(s) but has failed to attend (absconds and keeps out of the way for the purpose of avoiding service of a summon(s) or warrant(s)). You are hereby ordered to arrest and bring the said Sonu Sood before the Court…”
The authorities have been instructed to execute the warrant and return it with an update on or before February 10, 2025, when the next hearing is scheduled.
Awaiting Sonu Sood’s Response
As of now, Sonu Sood has not publicly responded to the arrest warrant. The case has raised concerns given the actor’s widely recognized philanthropic work during the COVID-19 pandemic, which earned him a reputation as a humanitarian.
With the next court hearing set for February 10, all eyes are on whether Sonu Sood will address the legal summons or seek legal recourse in response to the arrest order.
