Chhaava Box Office Day 2: Vicky Kaushal’s Film Storms Past ₹100 Crore Worldwide

Vicky Kaushal’s latest film Chhaava is proving to be a box office juggernaut. The historical action drama has surpassed the ₹100 crore mark globally within just two days of its release, cementing its position as one of the biggest hits of 2025.

Chhaava’s Impressive Box Office Performance

Trade tracker Sacnilk reports that Chhaava has earned ₹68 crore net (₹81.60 crore gross) in the Indian market over two days. Additionally, the film has collected over $2 million (approximately ₹18-19 crore) from overseas markets, bringing its global total to ₹100 crore. This milestone makes Chhaava the second Hindi film of 2025 to cross ₹100 crore, following Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force. Given the film’s trajectory, it is expected to surpass Sky Force’s total collection in the coming days.

Stronghold in Maharashtra

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a biopic of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the legendary Maratha ruler Shivaji. The film chronicles Sambhaji’s battles against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, showcasing his bravery and determination. The historical significance of the film has struck a chord with audiences, particularly in Maharashtra, where Sambhaji is revered.

The film has been registering exceptional occupancy rates in the state, with Pune reporting a 97% occupancy in night shows. Given the overwhelming demand, several theatres in Mumbai and Pune have introduced midnight screenings, while smaller centres have added 6 AM and 1 AM shows to accommodate the audience.

Star Cast and Critical Reception

Chhaava features Vicky Kaushal in the titular role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, alongside Akshaye Khanna as Emperor Aurangzeb. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.

While the movie has received mixed critical reviews, with praise for its performances but some criticism for its pacing, audiences have responded enthusiastically, leading to its soaring box office numbers.
