Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan and starring Kartik Aaryan, has been enjoying a steady rise in box office numbers. On its second Saturday, the film saw a significant boost, earning ₹4.85 crore, according to a report by Sacnilk. This brings the biographical sports drama’s total collection to ₹42.75 crore.
This film marks the first collaboration between director Kabir Khan and actor Kartik Aaryan. The cast also includes Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Shreyas Talpade, Sonali Kulkarni, and Bhuvan Arora in pivotal roles. Chandu Champion tells the inspiring story of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first-ever Paralympics gold medalist.
The film has garnered positive responses from both fans and celebrities. Recently, Vidya Balan, who will be seen alongside Kartik Aaryan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, shared her thoughts on Chandu Champion. In a video posted on her Instagram Stories, she praised the film, saying, “Big congratulations to Kartik and Kabir, and the entire team of Chandu Champion. I think I cannot even imagine what kind of hard work has gone into this film but I felt like it showed in every frame. What a story firstly. Oh my God! So inspiring. I can’t imagine that it is someone’s actual life story, and they went through so much. It’s a very gripping and engaging film. I was glued from the word go. So, if you haven’t seen it yet, please do. A big hug to Kartik and more power to you and to all of you who made Chandu Champion. I enjoyed the film.”
In his review, a critic gave Chandu Champion 2.5 out of 5 stars, noting that it is predominantly an all-male affair with a few significant female characters, including Murlikant’s mother (Hemangi Kavi), an Indian television journalist in Tokyo (Bhagyashri Borse), and a present-era journalist (Sonali Kulkarni) who helps bring Murlikant back into the spotlight after his historic Paralympics achievement.
