Tiku Talsania, the 69-year-old comic actor renowned for his roles in classic Bollywood films, has opened up about his current jobless state in the industry. In an interview with The Indian Express, Talsania shared his struggles to find substantial roles in today’s evolving cinematic landscape.
He attributed the dearth of work to the changing dynamics of Bollywood, where traditional formula films have given way to story-driven narratives. Talsania mentioned, “Gone are the times where there used to be formula films with cabaret dance, two love songs, and the comedian coming and doing his bit and going away. That all has changed now. It has become story-oriented. So unless and until you become a part of the story or play a character intricately linked with the plot, you don’t get work. I am slightly jobless right now.”
Despite the challenges, Tiku Talsania is far from idle. He remains proactive, tirelessly pursuing opportunities through auditions, agents, and reaching out to filmmakers. He discussed how the industry landscape shifted during the pandemic and how he’s adapting to these changes. “I am sending out feelers that I am an actor looking for work. So, if there is a suitable role, then I’d love to do it. That’s the kind of approach we have,” he remarked.
Tiku Talsania is celebrated for his performances in a range of popular films, including “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin,” “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,” “Ishq,” “Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke,” “Andaz Apna Apna,” “Coolie No. 1,” and many more. He even appeared in a memorable non-comic role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Devdas.” Despite his challenges, Tiku Talsania’s enthusiasm for acting and commitment to his craft remain undiminished.
Talsania’s daughter, Shikha Talsania, has also ventured into the acting world and is gaining recognition for her work in the industry. Tiku Talsania was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s comedy film “Cirkus” in the previous year.
