Amitabh Bachchan Responds to Critics of His Continued Work at 81: "Got a Problem with That?"

Even at the age of 81, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan remains one of the busiest and most dedicated figures in the Indian film industry. However, his relentless work ethic has raised questions among some about why he continues to take on new projects at this stage of his life. Addressing these inquiries, Amitabh Bachchan penned a reflective and pointed note on his blog, responding to those who question his decision to keep working.

Amitabh on Why He Keeps Working

In his post, Amitabh candidly shared that the reason for his ongoing work is simply that it is another job opportunity. He acknowledged that others might have their own interpretations of his motivations, but he emphasized that his reasons are personal and may not align with others’ views. “They keep asking me on set of work… the reason for me to be working… and I have no answers for this, except it’s another job opportunity for me… what else could possibly be the reason?” he wrote.

Amitabh further added that while people are free to draw their own conclusions, his reasons for continuing to work are “enclosed, shuttered, and locked.” He encouraged others to “wear my shoes, and find out,” suggesting that only he fully understands the motivations behind his choices.

Responding to Critics

In a direct challenge to those who might question his decision to keep working, Amitabh wrote, “I WORK… PERIOD… got a problem with that? well then… get to work and find out.” He also criticized the tendency of some to build “sandcastles” of assumptions, only to see them fall. The actor’s message was clear: his work is a personal matter, and he is determined to continue his career on his own terms.

Amitabh’s Current Projects

Amitabh Bachchan is currently reprising his role as the host of the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) in its 16th season. He was also recently seen in Kalki 2898 AD, a post-apocalyptic film directed by Nag Ashwin. The film, inspired by Hindu scriptures and set far in the future, features a star-studded cast including Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Disha Patani.

In addition to these projects, Amitabh is busy shooting for the much-anticipated film Vettaiyan, in which he stars alongside superstar Rajinikanth. The film, set for a worldwide release in October this year, also features Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

As Amitabh Bachchan continues to work tirelessly, his dedication to his craft serves as an inspiration to many. Despite the questions and criticisms, he remains steadfast in his commitment to his work, proving that age is no barrier to passion and perseverance.
