Amitabh Bachchan Expands Real Estate Holdings in Ayodhya with ₹40 Crore Land Deal

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has further expanded his luxury real estate portfolio with the acquisition of a sprawling 25,000 sq ft land parcel in Ayodhya, valued at nearly ₹40 crore. The property is located adjacent to The Sarayu, a high-end plotted development by Mumbai-based real estate company The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL).

This latest purchase builds upon Bachchan’s previous investment in the same area. In 2024, the veteran actor acquired a 10,000 sq ft plot in The Sarayu for ₹14.5 crore, signaling growing interest among celebrities and investors in Ayodhya’s rapidly evolving real estate landscape.

While HoABL has refrained from commenting on the new transaction and Bachchan remained unavailable for remarks, the move underscores his deepening association with Ayodhya—a city currently at the center of massive spiritual and infrastructural transformation following the grand opening of the Ram Mandir.

A Legacy Connection

In March 2025, reports from The Times of India revealed that Bachchan had also purchased a 54,454 sq ft plot about 10 km from the Ram Mandir. Acquired under the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Trust, the land is rumored to be designated for a memorial dedicated to his late father, the revered Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

Prior to the temple’s inauguration in 2024, the actor had also acquired a 5,372 sq ft plot in Haveli Avadh for ₹4.54 crore, further cementing his foothold in the spiritual capital.

Beyond Ayodhya, Bachchan has diversified his holdings with a 10,000 sq ft land purchase in Alibaug for ₹10 crore, also from HoABL, showcasing his strategic interest in premium land assets across emerging destinations.

Ayodhya’s Booming Real Estate

According to a recent report by Liases Foras titled “Ayodhya – A Rising Global Spiritual Capital,” the city’s real estate market is witnessing unprecedented growth. Land prices have increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19%, with projections suggesting a surge to 25% by 2035.

Fuelled by infrastructure upgrades—such as the expansion of the international airport, enhanced road and rail connectivity, and the construction of the Ram Mandir—Ayodhya is quickly transforming into a magnet for spiritual tourism and luxury investment. Property prices in prime areas like the Sarayu riverfront and Ram Mandir corridor have skyrocketed over 4.5 times from 2020 to 2025.

Adding to the city’s transformation is a boom in the hospitality sector, with over 50 new hotels in development. Luxury brands like The Leela, Taj, and The Oberoi are setting up operations in Ayodhya, positioning it as a high-potential real estate hotspot.

HoABL’s Expanding Footprint

Founded in 2020, The House of Abhinandan Lodha has emerged as a major player in branded land development, delivering over 15 million sq ft of developed plots. With 30 million sq ft currently under active development, the company has expanded across key markets including Ayodhya, Goa, Alibaug, Dapoli, Neral, and Nagpur. Upcoming projects are set to launch in cities like Shimla, Amritsar, Varanasi, and Vrindavan.

In addition, HoABL has entered vertical real estate development in Mumbai with projects underway in Marine Lines, Chowpatty, and Naigaon, boasting a total development potential of over 3.1 million sq ft.

As Ayodhya continues to attract both spiritual pilgrims and high-net-worth individuals, Amitabh Bachchan’s strategic investments reflect the growing synergy between culture, legacy, and real estate in one of India’s most transformative urban centers.
