Vikrant Massey's The Sabarmati Report Earns Praise from Amit Shah: 'The Film Exposes Lies and Misleading Facts'

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently met the team of The Sabarmati Report, a film based on the tragic burning of the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat on February 27, 2002. The incident, which claimed the lives of 59 Hindu devotees returning from Ayodhya, had far-reaching consequences, including communal riots across the state.

Amit Shah, during his meeting with the cast and crew, commended their efforts to present what he called “the truth.” Sharing photos of his interaction with the film’s lead actor Vikrant Massey, producer Ektaa R Kapoor, and others, Shah stated, “Met the team of The Sabarmati Report and congratulated them for their courage to narrate the truth. The film exposes the lies and the misleading facts to unveil the truth that was suppressed for a long time to meet political interests.”

Support from Political Leaders

The film has garnered significant attention from political leaders. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended a special screening of the film during the ongoing 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. After watching the film, Sawant lauded its presentation and announced plans to make it tax-free in the state. “Very few filmmakers focus on real facts, and this film is based on a true incident. I congratulate the producer and actors for their commendable work,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also hosted a screening of the film in Lucknow, where he praised Vikrant Massey and the team for their effort to highlight the historical incident. Adityanath announced that The Sabarmati Report would be made tax-free in Uttar Pradesh to ensure wider reach. “The people of the country have the right to know the truth about the efforts made to create animosity in society,” he said.

About the Film

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, The Sabarmati Report stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles. Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan, the film delves into the events surrounding the Sabarmati Express tragedy, presenting what the filmmakers describe as “an untold truth.”

The film continues to spark discussions nationwide, with prominent figures like Amit Shah expressing admiration for its bold storytelling. As the film receives endorsements from multiple state governments, it seems poised to leave a lasting impression on audiences across India.
