Actor Allu Arjun appeared before the Metropolitan Criminal Court in Nampally, Hyderabad, on Friday to complete the necessary legal formalities after being granted regular bail in connection with the tragic Sandhya Theatre incident. The incident, which occurred on December 4, 2024, during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule, resulted in the death of a woman, Revathi, and left her child, Sri Tej, severely injured.
Bail Granted After Court Hearing
Allu Arjun was granted conditional bail by the court, which determined that the case did not constitute “culpable homicide not amounting to murder.” The court, however, imposed certain conditions for the actor’s release. His lawyer, Ashok Reddy, explained to reporters that the actor must attend a police station and execute a ₹50,000 bond with two sureties to fulfill the legal process.
The actor was accompanied by a heavy police presence as he arrived at the court. After submitting the required documents, he was escorted inside by officers. Reddy also mentioned that the case is ongoing and that a quash petition is pending before the Telangana High Court, with the next hearing scheduled for January 21, 2025.
Tragic Incident at the Pushpa 2 Premiere
The tragic incident occurred when Allu Arjun attended the Pushpa 2 premiere at Sandhya Theatre and waved to the crowd from the sunroof of his car. The large gathering turned chaotic, leading to the unfortunate death of Revathi and serious injuries to her son, Sri Tej.
Following the incident, Allu Arjun was arrested and later granted interim bail. The actor, who has expressed his condolences, was surrounded by media as he visited the court on Friday.
Support for Victim’s Family
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Allu Arjun and his family have shown support for the victims. The father of the injured child, Bhaskar, shared a positive update about his child’s recovery, revealing that Sri Tej showed signs of improvement after being on a ventilator for over 20 days. Bhaskar also expressed gratitude for the support provided by Allu Arjun and the Telangana government.
Allu Arjun’s father, film producer Allu Aravind, also announced a financial aid of ₹2 crore to support the victim’s family, further emphasizing the actor’s compassion and commitment to assisting the family during this difficult time.
As the legal proceedings continue, both the actor and the family affected by the incident have received widespread attention for their responses to the tragedy.
