"Ajay Devgn's 'Shaitaan' Surpasses ₹100 Crore Worldwide, Makes Mark as Third Highest Grossing Hindi Film of 2024"

In an impressive feat at the global box office, Ajay Devgn’s supernatural thriller “Shaitaan” has crossed the coveted ₹100 crore mark worldwide, establishing itself as one of the top-grossing Hindi films of 2024. The film, also starring R. Madhavan and Jyotika, has garnered significant attention for its intriguing storyline and stellar performances.

According to reports from Sacnilk.com, “Shaitaan” achieved this milestone on its fifth day of release, Tuesday, with a commendable collection of around ₹80 crore in India and an estimated ₹20 crore overseas. The film’s box office success has been steady, with an additional ₹6.25 crore contributed to its India collection on its sixth day, Wednesday, totaling approximately ₹74 crore nett domestically.

This achievement places “Shaitaan” in esteemed company, as it becomes the third Hindi movie of 2024 to surpass the ₹100 crore mark worldwide, following the successes of “Fighter” starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, and “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. Impressively, it is the seventh Indian film of the year to achieve this milestone.

For Jyotika, who made her Bollywood comeback after more than two decades, “Shaitaan” marks her first ₹100 crore film, while R. Madhavan adds another accolade to his repertoire with his third film entering this prestigious club. Director Vikas Bahl also celebrates his second ₹100 crore grosser after the success of Hrithik-starrer “Super 30” in 2019.

Tracking the film’s performance in India, “Shaitaan” opened to a promising start, earning ₹14.75 crore nett on its first day and witnessing steady growth over the weekend, with collections reaching ₹18.75 crore nett on Saturday and approximately ₹20 crore nett on Sunday. The film’s momentum continued into the week, with earnings of ₹7.25 crore nett on its first Monday, followed by ₹6.5 crore and roughly ₹6.25 crore nett on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Directed by Vikas Bahl and presented by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and Panorama Studios, “Shaitaan” is a collaborative effort produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak. It serves as the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati horror film “Vash,” originally written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik.

With its gripping narrative and strong performances, “Shaitaan” continues to captivate audiences, reaffirming Ajay Devgn’s stature as a box office powerhouse and further solidifying the success of Indian cinema in the global arena.
