Actor Adah Sharma has addressed criticism over her decision to move into the Mumbai apartment previously rented by the late Sushant Singh Rajput, where he was found dead in 2020. Reports surfaced earlier this year that Adah had shifted to the Bandra flat, sparking backlash from some quarters, accusing her of using Sushant’s name for publicity.
In a recent interview with India Today, Adah responded to the controversy, stating that she chooses not to react to every opinion. “As an actor, or even as a person, you cannot react to everything that’s been said. We all have a lot of things to do in life. Also, this is a free country, and everyone has the right to have an opinion. If they feel about something, they should… and continue to do so,” she said.
Despite the criticism, Adah explained that she doesn’t feel the need to justify her actions. “I am not here to tell anyone ‘I am a good person’ or give them reasons for my actions. I did what I had to do, and I know myself. And just like I don’t want anyone to change for me, I would also not change myself. I am really all settled in the house, and I really love the place,” she added.
Earlier this year, Adah spoke to Bombay Times about her decision to move into the apartment, stating that she had lived in the same home in Pali Hill, Bandra, her entire life. “I’m very sensitive to vibes, and this place gives me positive ones,” she said, adding that the home’s view and ample space for feeding birds were key factors in her decision.
The Bandra duplex apartment, located in Mont Blanc Apartments, was rented by Sushant Singh Rajput in December 2019 for ₹4.5 lakh per month. It spans over 3,600 square feet and features a large hall on the lower floor and three bedrooms above. Sushant was found dead in the apartment on June 14, 2020, in a case that stirred widespread controversy and debate.
Adah’s decision to move into the flat sparked renewed interest in the residence, but the actor remains unfazed by the attention. Despite the history surrounding the home, she says she feels settled and at peace in her new space.
